Well, we do make alot of babies...
Dateline - Syracuse, NY - Oh baby, is it cold here! The snow has been falling to beat the band and the high today was 20. For someone from the Atlanta area, even when you are prepared and have a heavy coat, jacket and hat...well, it is just flat out cold.
When I was here in December, I mentioned to the client that since I was going to be up here so often, what was there to do for fun.
One of the guys said I should try to catch a Buffalo Bills football game. I said, "Isn't that an outdoor stadium? Not in winter...at least for me"
Another person suggested snowmobiling. "Isn't that outside too?"
Then a woman batted her eyes at me and literally said, "Well, we do make alot of babies around here." :)
This hasn't been a good trip for alot of reasons. I had to come to the customer and tell them that currently we are inept and can't get things when we promised. So, now we had to push back their installation date a month. No fun!
I also chatted with my boss's boss (BB). Usually, I love what I do. There is a real feeling of satisfaction in helping businesses improve. I feel I am a "difference maker" But lately, for a variety of reasons, I feel like I have been thrown into a gunfight and have been told to "find a rock and hope for the best" It is not a great feeling to say the least.
Have you ever gone to work and know that your head is going to be handed to you and there isn't really anything you can do to avoid it? Over the last three months, that has been my feeling each time I visit my customers.
And during my conversation last night with BB, the immediate future isn't going to be much different. The one glimmer is that it is changing...just not very fast.
BTW- someone asked me what caused my dental bill to skyrocket. Well, the one tooth was indeed losing my filling. Turns out that the tooth next to it was about to go as well. And since I haven't been able to chew properly on that side of my mouth, I agreed to get a couple of implants to correct the problem. I am going to be better off in the long run. And a few days past the initial shock (do you think dentists are like morticians who try to take adavantage of you when you are having a weak moment?), I can take solace that at least I have insurance which will cover about 1/3 of it. And since I do his pools, I do have a credit for some of it. So, I am propbably out of pocket about $1,500. The only saving grace is that I am thankful that I can afford it. (There was a time I couldn't, so thank you God)
I have some pics to download from my Treo and I will get to that tonight.

One dreary Thursday night at approximately 8.34pm, i decided to randomly peruse some journals in order to take my mind off the throbbing pain in the left side of my mouth, otherwise known as a tooth ache.
How fortunate that i should stumble across your journal with refrences to the dentist. And for my sake, i hope dentists are not like morticians.
