I initially started a blog back in 2001. That was when blogging wasn't so much about politcal tirades or pandering to some weird genre. It was about letting your thoughts out.
That first blog was about me being a road warrior and the company (dubbed "Da Company") I worked at along with the characters I worked with.
But I quit Da Company and tried going "under the radar" with another blog. That blog didn't let me express about me, which is the main reason that I have been blogging.
So, this is about me and my life. Yes, the others were parts of my life, but my job isn't my life. Now more than ever, I would like to think that I am not defined by what I do. If so, I would be in a quandry. My work lets me do:
- Still doing time as a road warrior, but not nearly as much as I once was. I used to leave home on Sunday night and get home late on Friday. Those days are behind me for good. Taking less money was actually worth it and if there was a way I could get home everynight and still make the money I do now, I would do it in a second.
- This coming Spring will be my third one in the pool service business. The first year was a disaster as no one (including me) knew what was going on. This year, I made enough to break even for the two years overall and this year will lead to ???? My guy who has been doing the work (I do the banking and billing) is thinking about moving into a business of his own. I can't blame him and his ex-wife just passed away over Thanksgiving resulting in his 2 young kids coming under his roof full time. I wish him luck. He is a good guy.
- My real estate business had its' moments this year. 2005 is going to be a breakout year in terms of my investing.
- And just because my church kind of ticked me off, I want to do some internet marketing to go with some more Ebay selling. I will let you know how it goes.
I guess I started back to blogging because at this time of year (and this year in particular), I am taking a moment to reflect on what has occured. Just a few of the highlights are:
- New Year's Day saw me in a motorcycle accident. At least no bones were broken.
- After 4 years, left the company that I worked at. I didn't have any hard feelings. Hopefully, they didn't either. I just wanted to take my life in another direction.
- Julie and I went on a cruise to the Southern Caribbean. It was awesome. I am ready to get back. In fact, I am planning our vacation in the Indian Ocean as I write.
- My Dad passed away unexpectedly in September. This has had a lingering effect that I am still coming to terms with.
That enough for now.
More to come later.
As the song says...Let's get it started!
And it is.
